Cleaning Schedule
A house cleaning schedule works when it is small enough to actually do. Here is a simple daily, weekly and monthly routine you can tick off on this page or print for the fridge. Change it to suit your home.
Cleaning Schedule
How to build a house cleaning schedule
- List your rooms and what each needs. A bathroom needs cleaning more often than a spare room.
- Give each job a rhythm. Daily, weekly, every two weeks or monthly. Most tasks are weekly at most.
- Spread the work across the week. One focus area a day is easier than one giant Saturday clean.
- Share it. Put names next to tasks so it does not all fall to one person. Our chore chart can help.
- Leave slack. Plan for four days of cleaning, not seven. Missed tasks then have somewhere to go.
A weekly cleaning schedule example
Give each day one focus. Here is one way to do it:
- Monday: bathrooms
- Tuesday: bedrooms and bed linen
- Wednesday: kitchen deep wipe (fridge front, cupboard doors, microwave)
- Thursday: floors (vacuum and mop)
- Friday: living areas and dusting
- Weekend: laundry, catch-up, and rest
Why cleaning schedules fail (and what to do instead)
Most schedules fail because they are too ambitious, too rigid or invisible. Cut the list until it feels almost too easy, allow tasks to slip a day without guilt, and keep the schedule somewhere you will see it every day.
TrulyTidy is built around this idea. Tasks repeat on their own schedule, only today's tasks show up in your to-do list, and anything you miss rolls over to tomorrow instead of disappearing. See how it works on the chore app page.
